SHARE YOUR BLESSING

This afternoon my friend Cindy and I went to visit a baby boy named Jeff Andrei Las Pinas. My heart was moved when I saw him… Like Meimei, he too has imperforate anus (read my post if you don’t know what it is). The sad thing about it is little Je-An has congenital heart disease – a hole in his heart and biventricular enlargement. Like Meimei too, Je-An has colostomy, however, he can’t proceed with the 2nd operation (PSARP Surgery) unless his heart goes through an open heart surgery. He has difficulty in breathing – as in gasping for air. At the age of 5 months, he can only consume a maximum of 2 oz every 2-3hrs or else he may experience more difficulty in breathing. Unless his heart is repaired, baby Je-An won’t grow… At 5 months, he is still wearing his new born clothes because he only weighs about 5 – 6lbs. Considered as blue baby, his new born weight … Continue reading

CHRISTMAS IN CHINA

Dear Elisha, I was browsing through some of our pictures in China when I saw our Christmas 2008 photos. OUR Christmas means including Meimei because she was already in my tummy. I bet she felt the joy and heard the laughter those evenings we had our Christmas parties with friends and with our OFW families in Jiaxing :) Not to mention dancing to the beat of the happy songs! To let you see the different events that took place in the different parties we went to, here are some of the pictures and a little description of what transpired. FOREIGNERS CHRISTMAS PARTY Every year, Speedy Tech (IMI-Jiaxing) sends representatives to this event and last year, your papa was chosen to represent the company in this gathering. The picture contains those who were seated with us that night as well as some of the special numbers presented to entertain the guests. After dinner, we went to Starbucks to meet … Continue reading

Singko De Noviembre

Dear Meimei, Today is a special day (holiday for the Philippines) because it’s Singko De Noviembre. But to me, this day is special because it’s been a month since your PSARP surgery. I can’t thank God enough for a successful operation. So let me give you a picture of YOU today. You woke up at around 8am and as always, was excited for your bottomless mama’s milk Then your ahia EJ and I went out for our breakfast. After my breakfast I gave you a bath. After bath time was time for our dilation. You are currently transitioning from a size 9 to a size 10 Hegar Dilator. 3 of us did it – Manang Salvie (holding your legs), Yaya Angel (holding your upper body) and Moi (dilating). You were so strong and we really had a hard time. You cried angrily (who wouldn’t?!!) but we still had to do it. When we finished … Continue reading

Dating My Prince

Elisha, my first born, was almost 4 years old when his sister was born. At his age, he still needs a lot of attention because he is only a preschooler. He still needs to be taken cared of and he still wants to be taken cared of. Although he dislikes being called a baby, I still see him as one So since the day I knew I was pregnant, I have thought of creative ideas how not to make him feel jealous and to assure him that he is still loved. Before Meimei (his sister) came out, I already asked family members not to tease EJ that he’s not loved anymore because a new baby is coming knowing that that kind of joke (bad joke actually) will open the door to jealousy or worse, will cause EJ to hate her sister. I have always been careful not to make him feel rejected and not … Continue reading

TWO OUT OF THREE

Dear Meimei, Last October 5, 2009 at 7:30am at the Riverside Medical Center you went through with your 2nd operation – the PSARP (Posterior Sagittal AnoRectoPlasty – the surgery required to create an anus). To give you and our loved ones a glimpse of what took place at the hospital I decided to blog about it. So read on darling… October 4 at 3pm we were already in the hospital because there were laboratory tests performed. You were tortured 3 times: (1) blood sample for blood typing and other tests (2) skin test for the antibiotic that was used for your IV (3) IV – your pediatrician, Dra. Geolingo decided to have your IV that night because your potassium content was 1 point lower than the specification so it needed to be corrected prior to surgery Of course you cried really loud 3 times also and there was even that look in … Continue reading

EJ’s ACCIDENT

Dear Elisha, It’s been 3 days since your accident – you hit your head on the edge of the of the bench while you were playing with your classmates which resulted to an injury on your left eyebrow and swelling on the left side of your face. I keep recallingthe scene where the lady guard (Manang Josie) was carrying you and running from the preschool department all the way to the clinic… I keep hearing your excruciating cry… I keep seeing the blood that covered your face and your uniform when I finally confirmed that it was you Manang Josie brought to the clinic… I keep seeing the the time 4:02pm in the car as I parked outside your school because seconds after that, the accident happened… I keep wondering if arriving earlier would’ve prevented the accident…I keep feeling how your body trembled when nurse Marizet was cleaning your wound, teacher Glazeus was removing the … Continue reading

LOVE LETTERS TO E.J.

My husband and I agreed that from time to time, we will write letters to our children so that someday, they have something to guide and encourage them when they need it. We can’t and we won’t be with them all the time, but with these letters, it’s as if we’re beside them. From these letters they’ll know how much we love them, what we value the most, what we pray for, what our principles are, who we are and what we, as parents, hope to impart to them that they too can impart to their children. We will categorize these types of blogs as LOVE LETTERS TO E.J. because truly, all our letters will be written because we love them. All our children have the initial E.J. Elisha Joey (Elisha or EJ) our son and Elizabeth Joy (Meimei) our daughter. If a third child comes, for sure his or her initial will still be E.J. … Continue reading
