Dear Ahia and Meimei, Your a-em started a “meme” (hihi, it’s a blogging term) and I’m joining it… It’s called LOVING MAMA MOMENTs. So for my 1st entry, I am writing you about our tickle time. It’s that 5-10 minutes a day that’s dedicated to tickling each other. I tickle you and you get to tickle me as well… It’s so much fun! There are even times that you’re the ones who initiate the tickling and tell me, “MAMA, TICKLE TIME!” This is enough proof that you love it as much as I do Usually, we tickle the neck, the “kili-kili” and ears. You’re both very ticklish so as long as you’re already laughing, almost anywhere I touch you, you giggle, scream and burst in laughter. No matter what the day brings, I always make sure we have our tickle time before we hug and kiss goodnight. So here you … Continue reading →

Dear Meimei, Yippe! You’re officially in the “tiny tot” age! And what does that mean? Some people describe it as a terrible two stage, and there’s even a website labeled terribletwos! But that’s not how I look at you sweety pie. Even with your ahia, I can honestly say he was never terrible as what those websites declare. It was even a big time for him to adjust because we moved to China when he was 23 months… yet in spite the new environment, your papa and I didn’t have problems with him. Yes we did have difficult times, but hey, even us adults have those days we don’t feel good and we just want to be ourselves or even do “not so nice things”, but that doesn’t mean we’re TERRIBLE… So when you become a mom someday, never label your kids terrible two ok? It’s a matter of perspective … Continue reading →

Dear Elisha, I’m writing this letter using papa’s itouch, hihi. It’s finally mine! But I think he’s giving this to you on your birthday ( I think ). But it depends if I’m letting it go. Hmmm… a few hugs and kisses might just convince me. Oh, for your information, you got banned from using this since November 2010 due to a very expensive mistake that you committed. Wanna know what & how much? Ok then read on. You and papa have this game called Fishes. In that game you need to buy more fish, corals, pearls & others. However, those are expensive stuffs so papa didn’t buy any. For example the pearls cost $99, some fish cost $9.99 and likewise for the corals. Papa didn’t buy any of those because he thought it was expensive. But guess what?! You did!!! You purchased a total of $206!!! Of pearls, fish and other stuff to decorate your ocean!!! … Continue reading →

I am a believer of early literacy (teaching the kids at an early age)… My first born knew his letters and numbers when he was only 1 year old (thanks to Brainy Baby). Sadly I didn’t take videos of him reciting them because at that time, I thought it was normal for kids to know their alphabets and numbers at that age He was also able to say or call out the people at home including our staffs. At 14 months, I was able to find a video of EJ saying, “SHOOT THAT BALL”. When my husband and I went on our trip to laguna last June, I saw the “Your Baby Can Read” promotional video in one of the cable stations there. It really got my attention and I became interested in the concept and the product. However, it costs $200 so I told my husband we’ll think about … Continue reading →

But now I’ll blog about the date of the king and princess in our household. Since Meimei was 5 months in my tummy she was already separated from his dad. We stayed in Bacolod for over a year and Joey comes home almost every 2 months then to be with us. But last July the kids and I moved to China and be with their dad. Joey’s been “courting” Meimei. He did a wonderful job the past months building that relationship with Meimei, however, her attachment to me is so strong and she would usually cling to me more. When yaya Angel, our nanny went back to Bacolod, Joey was able to spend more time with Meimei like giving … Continue reading →

Last October 24, 2008 I posted my very first article in my Life Worth Remembering blog. Here’s a copy of that post. The ones in blue fonts are new additions. “I will make my MARK in this generation. I will impact people around me. I will make a difference.” “You’re not everyone, but you are one You may not do everything, but you can do something” “You may be a stay at home mom, and you’re calling is to raise a child that may influence millions” “A 100 years from now, will it be any significant that I lived on this planet? Make it a goal to leave this earth better of than before you came in.” These are some of the thoughts that I picked up while listening to Joel Osteen’s preaching one Sunday regarding “Living a Life Worth Remembering.” The message struck me and it made me realize … Continue reading →

Dear Meimei, In my Facebook profile my status was: “ Thank you Lord for 18 wonderful and blessed months…” Yes my little one, you’re 18 months old today and the past months have truly been wonderful and full of God’s blessings. They weren’t perfect months but in every difficulty or mishaps, God has always shown HIS favor and HE has never left us. Allow me to share with you what took place today: Our day started as the usual weekend – woke up late because we slept late the other night. Had crab and shrimp for lunch (for the three of us) and yours were broccoli and pork After lunch you asked for “Titi” (mama’s milk) and of course, fell asleep after that… Both of us did actually. Your papa and ahia however spent the whole afternoon cleaning the aquarium as your papa wanted to give you FISHY for your gift! … Continue reading →

Dear Elisha, The first time we went to China was when you were 23 months and by the time you reached 2 years old, you were already in school. Kid Castle was your very first school which taught English to local Chinese kids. I put you there so that you can adjust to a Chinese school environment and yet when you go looking for “Mama” in English, your teachers can attend to you because they understand you. You were only there for the summer and when September 2007 came, Chinese school year opened and you were enrolled in our village’s kindergarten, Jindu Kindergarted. In both schools, you cried very hard each time I left you with your teachers for the first few weeks. I cried too son. It was heart breaking for me to leave you in your teacher’s care, however, it was something that needed to be done. Sometimes I would watch you from … Continue reading →

My previous blog about our life here in China entitled DAYS OF OUR WEEK, I mentioned that we have different bedtime schedule and that defines who sleeps with who and in which room. After a month, we decided to have them changed due to factors like school is about to open and EJ has to sleep early, the bed is too small to fit the 4 of us (that’s because Joey gets half the space and the 3 of us share the other half!), and if super tired, my ears cannot tolerate Joey and EJ snoring at the same time! So we, EJ and I, did a draft one afternoon and had his papa approved it. So here’s the revised schedule: Monday and Tuesday – Meimei with Mama and Papa ; EJ in his room Wednesday – Papa’s night off (would you believe that! he has his OWN night off! … Continue reading →

As many of you know, yaya Angel is here with us so we divided the work loads. She took charge cleaning almost all the dusty areas because i’m extraordinarily allergic to dust. When she’s done cleaning, I do the arranging or re-arranging. I did all the cooking for lunch and dinner. From the grocery, preparations and cooking itself. Beakfast is simple – bread, cereal, milk or fruit. We take turns in taking care of the kids and washing the clothes. The ironing we leave to Ayi, our local helper who works only on Sundays. We maintain her just so we have someone to contact incase we need some stuff that are not available in the market and of course, my ever supportive hubby wants me to have … Continue reading →

Dear Elisha, For my birthday letter for you, I want to share with you how you came into this world… Ooops, not really the details of HOW you were made, but just a background of the things that took place before, during and after your birth. So read on ok? It was in the year 2002 when in my prayer time a little voice whispered to me that my first born will be a boy and that his name shall be ELISHA JOEY. Elisha is a prophet in the Old Testament and his name also signifies double portion anointing. Joey is obviously from your papa’s name. So in short, your name means double portion of your papa, but of course, with a touch of me When your pa and I got married in 2003, we decided to have a baby after we have taken some time to enjoy our being couple … Continue reading →

So that’s more than a year of “away” from my hubby and their papa Joey. Literally speaking, it’s 1 month to go… that is, 1 month to GO to China. The thought of leaving gives me mixed emotions – happy and sad at the same time. HAPPY TO GO – mainly because our family will be together day in and day out. My husband will definitely enjoy time with our kids, especially time with his little princess, as it is Meimei’s first time to join us there. Sure enough he’s also looking forward to coming home, sleep, and wake up with his lovely wife beside him (*wink*). The kids will take pleasure in the strong arms of their dad when he carries them.
Dear Meimei, A year ago, April 16, 2009 at 4:44pm I heard your very first cry… I welcomed you to this world by saying these words the very first time I saw you: KAY JOEY GYAPUN ILONG!!! (Still Joey’s Nose!!!) :) When you’re old enough to read this, just ask me or your papa WHY those where my first words when I saw you for the very first time! (ahihihihi) A few hours later your tita Doc Tett went inside my room and told me that you were healthy except for a small problem… that you had imperforate anus. A lot of my friends asked me what was my first reaction and probably you’ll also wonder when you grow up… I didn’t cry nor did I panic. All I asked was, “So what’s the solution?” Tita Doc then discussed words like you may need colostomy and many other things which … Continue reading →

First of all, I would like to thank family, friends and even strangers for sending help for Baby Jeff Andrei Las Pinas (Je-An). May the Lord bless your kindness to this kiddo. They went to the Philippine Heart Center last Monday and the poor boy had to undergo several testings such as blood tests, urine, 2d echo and many others to find out if he can go through the temporary repair. Unfortunately, the doctors concluded based on the test results that right now, he cannot because of the following reasons: 1. he is way below under weight so he has to gain a little more… they are asking that he should at least be able to take 3oz of milk each time, however, the most he can take was 2oz. They tried giving increasing it but when they reached 2.5 oz, he was rushed to the emergency room because he … Continue reading →

Several nights back, my husband and I had one of the many wonderful chats about life… Even if he’s far (he’s in China while I’m in the Philippines), he is still someone I consider my best friend. I can share with him everything and anything at all. A lot of times I know he’s tired and exhausted but when we chat and I need someone to share my heart out, he tries his best to comfort me. The latest incident was a few nights ago when I felt so guilty of being so busy with something that is good, yet I felt it’s taking me away from the kids so in turn, it’s starting to become bad. I discussed this topic with my husband and here’s what he told me: ok. i know that it’s hard for you there. just make sure may outlet ka.
This afternoon, my friend Ruby and I with my kids went to baby Je-An’s house to say goodbye and bless him before he leaves for Manila tomorrow night. Je-An and his mom, lolo and lola will travel to Manila by boat because his pedia cardiologist (Dr. Franco) won’t give him clearance to ride the airplane as it is too dangerous for his condition. They will leave Bacolod around 9pm tomorrow night and will be arriving Manila about 10pm Sunday night. Analyn, Je-An’s mom, has an uncle who drives a taxi will pick them up and bring them somewhere (they still don’t know where they can spend the night). Monday morning they’re hoping to be admitted in the Philippine Heart Center. Initial estimates of Je-An’s expenses will reach at least P200,000 ( approx. $ 4,200) which covers for Pulmonary Artery Catether and Pulmonary Artery Banding. The family will leave Bacolod with … Continue reading →

Dear Elisha, I am writing this letter with tears in my eyes because as I look at you while you’re sound asleep, I realize that you are still a “baby”, but sometimes, I forget that and expect you to act like an adult. You’re only 4 years old and 8 months to be exact and even if at times you DO talk like a grown up, you’re still just a little boy who wants to run and play… Today you received several awards namely: GOLD in Chinese with Best in Math, Best in Language, Best in Social Studies and Best in Bible. SILVER in English with Best in English award. In the past, it was your A-ma who gave you your Chinese ribbons and I gave your English ribbons. But today it was I and Angkong who were there… As I looked at you on stage, I saw not really much of the … Continue reading →

Dear Meimei, I know this is too early for me to write about this issue but this is something that I want to pass on to you and let you understand as early as now… Hoping that someday, when you’re grown up and finally decide to have a family, this is one principle you will apply from the day you exchange vows ’til the day heaven calls you or your partner home. We are an OFW family (Overseas Filipino Workers) and with that, we live a different life compared to families who live together. Your Pa and I spend a lot of times apart from each other so it takes extra effort to keep our love for each other alive and keep communication lines open. Most nights, like right now, when you and your ahia are asleep, I make time to chat with your papa. It’s not really like we chat the whole time, sometimes I just send … Continue reading →

Dear Elisha, I’ve been meaning to write you about your prayer times because there had been a lot of instances that you amazed me with your prayers, the ones that you say on your own… Here’s one that’s very fresh that you uttered before you slept this evening (Dec. 2, 2009): Dear God our Father, Thank you for blessing our friends and family. Thank you for our ROCKING CHAIR. Thank you that tomorrow I can go to school and make my… (you paused and asked me – Mama, what will we make tomorrow in my science class, I forgot – so I had to remind you that you’ll make a clay dough) … my clay dough. Thank you for blessing others. In Jesus name, Amen. I won’t and can’t enumerate everything but just to give you an idea of what you prayed for as a 4 year old boy, read on :) … for Jose Rizal … Continue reading →

***For those of you who don’t know Je-An, please read my post about him HERE before you read this post Thanks.*** Baby Je-An had his check up last week and according to his mom, he weighs 3.3Kls (6.6lbs). They came over our house after his check up to submit the requirements that a family friend asked from them so that he can help Je-An have his open heart surgery sponsored by their organization / foundation as they are actively involved in helping the less fortunate. God Bless them! It is still for approval so I am asking you to help pray that all will be well and that the decision will be in favor of the baby. I am also currently emailing our yahoogroup members ( http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/colorectal_parents_philippines/) for some help if ever Je-An and his mom goes to PGH for the surgery. As mentioned in my SHARE YOUR BLESSING post, there are 3 … Continue reading →
