Date with Dad

I am a believer of DATES and if you’ve been reading my blogs or you’re close to me, you know that I date my kiddos and I also date my husband. But now I’ll blog about the date of the king and princess in our household. Since Meimei was 5 months in my tummy she was already separated from his dad. We stayed in Bacolod for over a year and Joey comes home almost every 2 months then to be with us. But last July the kids and I moved to China and be with their dad. Joey’s been “courting” Meimei. He did a wonderful job the past months building that relationship with Meimei, however, her attachment to me is so strong and she would usually cling to me more. When yaya Angel, our nanny went back to Bacolod, Joey was able to spend more time with Meimei like giving … Continue reading

Life Worth Remembering

Last October 24, 2008 I posted my very first article in my Life Worth Remembering blog. Here’s a copy of that post. The ones in blue fonts are new additions. “I will make my MARK in this generation. I will impact people around me. I will make a difference.” “You’re not everyone, but you are one You may not do everything, but you can do something” “You may be a stay at home mom, and you’re calling is to raise a child that may influence millions” “A 100 years from now, will it be any significant that I lived on this planet? Make it a goal to leave this earth better of than before you came in.” These are some of the thoughts that I picked up while listening to Joel Osteen’s preaching one Sunday regarding “Living a Life Worth Remembering.” The message struck me and it made me realize … Continue reading

Night Schedule Revised

My previous blog about our life here in China entitled DAYS OF OUR WEEK,  I mentioned that we have different bedtime schedule and that defines who sleeps with who and in which room. After a month, we decided to have them changed due to factors like school is about to open and EJ has to sleep early, the bed is too small to fit the 4 of us (that’s because Joey gets half the space and the 3 of us share the other half!), and if super tired, my ears cannot tolerate Joey and EJ snoring at the same time! So we, EJ and I, did a draft one afternoon and had his papa approved it. So here’s the revised schedule: Monday and Tuesday – Meimei with Mama and Papa ; EJ in his room Wednesday – Papa’s night off (would you believe that! he has his OWN night off! … Continue reading

HAPPY 5TH BIRTHDAY ELISHA JOEY

Dear Elisha, For my birthday letter for you, I want to share with you how you came into this world… Ooops, not really the details of HOW you were made, but just a background of the things that took place before, during and after your birth. So read on ok? It was in the year 2002 when in my prayer time a little voice whispered to me that my first born will be a boy and that his name shall be ELISHA JOEY. Elisha is a prophet in the Old Testament and his name also signifies double portion anointing. Joey is obviously from your papa’s name. So in short, your name means double portion of your papa, but of course, with a touch of me When your pa and I got married in 2003, we decided to have a baby after we have taken some time to enjoy our being couple … Continue reading

1 Month to GO!

If you’re part of the family and close friends, you know that the kids and I have been in Bacolod since Chinese New Year last year. So that’s more than a year of “away” from my hubby and their papa Joey. Literally speaking, it’s 1 month to go… that is, 1 month to GO to China. The thought of leaving gives me mixed emotions – happy and sad at the same time. HAPPY TO GO – mainly because our family will be together day in and day out. My husband will definitely enjoy time with our kids, especially time with his little princess, as it is Meimei’s first time to join us there. Sure enough he’s also looking forward to coming home, sleep, and wake up with his lovely wife beside him (*wink*). The kids will take pleasure in the strong arms of their dad when he carries them. Oh … Continue reading

BLUE and HAPPY day :)

It was a one truly fine day spent with both the Lo’s and the Boyero’s… It was Meimei’s birthday last April 16 but we had it celebrated at Palmas Del Mar today mainly because for my 2 kids (EJ and Meimei), swimming seem to be the love of their lives! Whenever they see a swimming pool, the first thing that comes to their minds is, DIVE DIVE DIVE and DIVE! Even if it’s just in the pictures or videos. I decided to have a family pool party so everyone can just enjoy and exercise Not everybody swam but I appreciate the fact that those who didn’t stayed until those who did finished up… I thought that after the picture taking in the function room and at the pool area, those who didn’t swim would go back home. But I was surprised to see the dry group waiting for the wet … Continue reading

Quality Time is better than Quantity Time???

Several nights back, my husband and I had one of the many wonderful chats about life… Even if he’s far (he’s in China while I’m in the Philippines), he is still someone I consider my best friend. I can share with him everything and anything at all. A lot of times I know he’s tired and exhausted but when we chat and I need someone to share my heart out, he tries his best to comfort me. The latest incident was a few nights ago when I felt so guilty of being so busy with something that is good, yet I felt it’s taking me away from the kids so in turn, it’s starting to become bad. I discussed this topic with my husband and here’s what he told me: ok.  i know that it’s hard for you there.  just make sure may outlet ka. [4/6/2010 12:38:38 AM] *LANGGA KO*: … Continue reading

AWARD WINNING KID

Dear Elisha, I am writing this letter with tears in my eyes because as I look at you while you’re sound asleep, I realize that you are still a “baby”, but sometimes, I forget that and expect you to act like an adult. You’re only 4 years old and 8 months to be exact and even if at  times you DO talk like a grown  up, you’re still just a little boy who wants to run and play… Today you received several awards namely: GOLD in Chinese with Best in Math, Best in Language, Best in Social Studies and Best in Bible. SILVER in English with Best in English award. In the past, it was your A-ma who gave you your Chinese ribbons and I gave your English ribbons. But today it was I and Angkong who were there…  As I looked at you on stage, I saw not really much of the … Continue reading

DATING MY KING

Dear Meimei, I know this is too early for me to write about this issue but this is something that I want to pass on to you and let you understand as early as now… Hoping that someday, when you’re grown up and finally decide to have a family, this is one principle you will apply from the day you exchange vows ’til the day heaven calls you or your partner home. We are an OFW family (Overseas Filipino Workers) and with that, we live a different life compared to families who live together. Your Pa and I spend a lot of times apart from each other so it takes extra effort to keep our love for each other alive and keep communication lines open. Most nights, like right now, when you and your ahia are asleep, I make time to chat with your papa. It’s not really like we chat the whole time, sometimes I just send … Continue reading

A 4 Year Old’s Prayer

Dear Elisha, I’ve been meaning to write you about your prayer times because there had been a lot of instances that you amazed me with your prayers, the ones that you say on your own… Here’s one that’s very fresh that you uttered before you slept this evening (Dec. 2, 2009): Dear God our Father, Thank you for blessing our friends and family. Thank you for our ROCKING CHAIR. Thank you that tomorrow I can go to school and make my… (you paused and asked me – Mama, what will we make tomorrow in my science class, I forgot – so I had to remind you that you’ll make a clay dough) … my clay dough. Thank you for blessing others. In Jesus name, Amen. I won’t and can’t enumerate everything but just to give you an idea of what you prayed for as a 4 year old boy, read on  :) … for Jose Rizal … Continue reading

Dating My Prince

Elisha, my first born, was almost 4 years old when his sister was born. At his age, he still needs a lot of attention because he is only a preschooler. He still needs to be taken cared of and he still wants to be taken cared of. Although he dislikes being called a baby, I still see him as one So since the day I knew I was pregnant, I have thought of creative ideas how not to make him feel jealous and to assure him that he is still loved. Before Meimei (his sister) came out, I already asked family members not to tease EJ that he’s not loved anymore because a new baby is coming knowing that that kind of joke (bad joke actually) will open the door to jealousy or worse, will cause EJ to hate her sister. I have always been careful not to make him feel rejected and not … Continue reading

GO BACK OR STAY?

SHE WRITES:I’ve been gone for several days and haven’t really been in the loop for sometime already. That’s because my son’s cough has been on and off for almost a month, but this week, it was at its peak. I’ve tried what I know to help him cope with the coldness and dryness of winter, but I think I’ve fallen short. They say it’s normal here for his age to get sick at this time of the year but I don’t like it. It makes me worry because he has just recovered from a mild primary complex, which he developed last winter too. His lung is very fragile at this time and frequent attacks of cough and cold might do so much harm. With this, I am faced with a dilemma… If we go back to the Philippines now, EJ and his papa will have a long time of separation. … Continue reading

WITH OR WITHOUT SIBLINGS?

SHE WRITES:I would like to thank Ares for this topic suggestion ) As you can see, I have 5 of them – and i love having them in my life. My brothers gave me love and guidance – there are things I told my brothers and not my parents – like my first broken heart and my first boy friend. My parents were unaware but I cried with my brothers… I love my sister too. I love the fact that she sees me as her role model when it comes to almost everything. We share clothes and we sleep late just talking and talking. They’re all in the Philippines and I’m the only one away from home. I miss spending Dec. 24th with them because we have exchange gifts. So even if I’m here, we’re still included in our family Christmas party. We don’t spend new years together because 5 … Continue reading

DID YOU / WILL YOU MARRY YOUR BEST FRIEND?

SHE WRITES: My brother fell inlove with his best friend back when he was in his teens, but he never had the chance to tell her how he felt, up to this day. The reason? He was afraid of losing the friendship because he feared the thought: “What if she didn’t have the same feelings for me? Then I would lose her forever…” So he never tried, not then, not ever. One of my girl friends almost lost her sanity when her best friend of 10 years got married to his girlfriend of several months. She thought it wasn’t fair. Sounds like My Best Friend’s Wedding movie huh? But it’s true…However, I married my best friend. It was tough at the beginning, the transition from being best friends to lovers, but it was wonderful having to marry someone you know so well and who knows me really deep too. Our … Continue reading

DO YOU LIKE WINTER?

SHE WRITES: I’ll go straight to the point, I dread winter =( It’s too cold for me. Taking a bath / shower is a struggle, really! And to think of the time we use putting on tons of lotion and moisturizers to keep our skin hydrated. The layers of clothes we have to consider putting on myself and my son. I don’t know if it’s because I was raised in a country (The Philippines) with no winter feeling at all, or it’s really a dreaded season by most people. My son and I got sick because I think our bodies are adjusting to the super dry and extremely cold season. But to be fair to this time of the year, I’ll write 2 things I like in winter: 1. the SNOW – last winter was our first time to experience snow and I admit it was FUN playing with my … Continue reading
