I spent several nights and days checking on which is better, iPad 2 or Samsung 10.1. My cousin in law (Ivy) patiently went with me the other day so we can have our hands on these 2 gadgets. Finally yesterday, with my husband‘s approval, I got the Samsung 10.1 white.
Unfortunately, the today I returned it to Samsung and they were so nice to give me back my money, full refund. The unit was wonderful, it felt really good to play & work with. However, Android Market, which is the apps center for android products, will only work properly with the Chinese version and not the English version… sigh. After 4 hours of trying to figure out how to configure my unit to work properly with the English apps version, the manager informed me that there’s nothing they can do as of the moment and advised me to buy my Samsung 10.1 tablet either from US or the Philippines. Thank God the owner came and decided to allow me the full refund and not let me wait for 3-7 days, which is their policy for all their clients. Thank You Lord for the favor!
The manager asked me to give them a few days to find a solution to my problem. If they can’t find the solution, I might consider buying Ipad 2 or Ipod Touch 4 or 5, whichever.
If you ask me why I chose Samsung 10.1 Tab over Ipad 2, considering they both cost exactly the same. It’s because of a few reasons:
1. Samsung Tab 10.1 has flash player, it can play the videos I have at Kizschool which I use for work.
2. Samsung Tab 10.1 has Office. I can create and edit office documents such as word, excel and powerpoint. Again, I use these for work.
3. I can just drag my pictures and documents directly to my Samsung Tab 10.1 and not have to go through itunes. Less hassle.
4. Samsung 10.1 is a bit lighter than Ipad 2 and just like Ipad2, it also has HDMI out.
Though there are more apps with Apple, there are also nice apps with Android Market and I’m contented with what I see. The sad this was, the English Version of the Android Market was nowhere to be found and probably, some apps may not be permitted here in China.
Although right now, I am more inclined to buying Ipod touch 4 or 5 (yep, iOs 5 will be out in the market in a few days) due to the size issue. It’s difficult to handle Samsung 10.1 or Ipad 2 if I want to comfortably use it when I’m putting my kiddos to sleep. I only have 1 hand to hold the gadget and the other one hugs my darlings.
In a few days I’ll see
