A Couples Delight

I’m launching this blog, A Couples Delight, as an anniversary gift for my bestfriend since 1997, my boyfriend from 1998 – 2003, my husband for 8 years and my parenting partner since 2005.  The man who bought dresses, skirts and sleeveless , made me comfortable wearing them and told me I looked beautiful in them.  Someone who prayed with me and stayed with me in the worst times of my life.  The guy who has very tiny eyes yet has very large perspective in life.  Somebody who loves me the way I am, yet encourages me to be the best that I can be, in all aspects of my being, including but not limited to staying fit and beautiful, hihi.  It puts pressure on me but it makes me feel good when people compliment what they see  So I thank my hubby for all the years we’ve spent together, I can say I have … Continue reading

Purple @ 31

Dear Elisha and Meimei, Meimei, this picture was taken on my 31st birthday last 2008. You’re 4 months in my tummy so this is my first birthday with you if I may say, hihi.  And of course, I’m wearing my favorite color And look at you EJ… you and papa gave me what we call the samwits kiss… Oh how I love this happy family kiss that we always share, usually at bedtime but done anytime we feel like it  We each take turn to be in the middle and it’s so much fun doing it that you sometimes would like to have 2 turns And since we were in China at that time, we just had a simple celebration with our “family” away from home – Auntie Imee, Auntie Cathy and Uncle Jon. Auntie Cindy wasn’t able to come so we missed her that night.  These friends have been … Continue reading

Tickle Time

Dear Ahia and Meimei, Your a-em started a “meme” (hihi, it’s a blogging term) and I’m joining it… It’s called LOVING MAMA MOMENTs.  So for my 1st entry, I am writing you about our tickle time. It’s that 5-10 minutes a day that’s dedicated to tickling each other.  I tickle you and you get to tickle me as well… It’s so much fun!  There are even times that you’re the ones who initiate the tickling and tell me, “MAMA, TICKLE TIME!”  This is enough proof that you love it as much as I do Usually, we tickle the neck, the “kili-kili” and ears.  You’re both very ticklish so as long as you’re already laughing, almost anywhere I touch you, you giggle, scream and burst in laughter.  No matter what the day brings, I always make sure we have our tickle time before we hug and kiss goodnight.  So here you … Continue reading

Birthday Pictorial

Dear Meimei, This is my first time to join PINK FRIDAYs and for my 1st entry, I’m posting your pictorial when you turned 2 years old… I would want to expose you to other colors, specifically purple (as it is my favorite color), but then, most baby girl stuff given to you and on sale are all in PINK! So right now, your favorite color is also pink Whatever color you like is fine with me because I think as long as you wear that pretty smile on your face, you’ll always look beautiful sweetypie Together with this pink dress, you also had green bunny costume and your floral dress for our family picture. But since it’s PINK FRIDAY entry, I’ll just post you in your pink dress in this letter.  You look lovely my dear. Your papa and I started this traditional studio pictorial when your ahia turned 2 … Continue reading

Teachable Two

Dear Meimei, Yippe! You’re officially in the “tiny tot” age! And what does that mean?  Some people describe it as a terrible two stage, and there’s even a website labeled terribletwos! But that’s not how I look at you sweety pie.  Even with your ahia, I can honestly say he was never terrible as what those websites declare.  It was even a big time for him to adjust because we moved to China when he was 23 months… yet in spite the new environment, your papa and I didn’t have problems with him.  Yes we did have difficult times, but hey, even us adults have those days we don’t feel good and we just want to be ourselves or even do “not so nice things”, but that doesn’t mean we’re TERRIBLE…  So when you become a mom someday, never label your kids terrible two ok?  It’s a matter of perspective … Continue reading

Expensive Mistake

Dear Elisha, I’m writing this letter using papa’s itouch, hihi. It’s finally mine! But I think he’s giving this to you on your birthday ( I think ).  But it depends if I’m letting it go. Hmmm… a few hugs and kisses might just convince me.  Oh, for your information, you got banned from using this since November 2010 due to a very expensive mistake that you committed.  Wanna know what & how much? Ok then read on. You and papa have this game called Fishes.  In that game you need to buy more fish, corals, pearls & others.  However, those are expensive stuffs so papa didn’t buy any.  For example the pearls cost $99, some fish cost $9.99 and likewise for the corals.  Papa didn’t buy any of those because he thought it was expensive.  But guess what?! You did!!!  You purchased a total of $206!!! Of pearls, fish and other stuff to decorate your ocean!!! … Continue reading

15 More Days

Dear Meimei, Today is April 1st and it’s only 15 days away from your 2nd birthday! Am I excited? Kinda! Not because we will have fancy celebration but because you’re gonna be officially stepping into the trainable, teachable, terrific, talented, talkative and totally trendy two year old! Everyday you amaze me with new things and who knows what you’ll be capable on the day you turn 2 years old. You’re learning really fast and now more than ever is the best time to train you in the way you should go as written in Proverbs 22:6. Initially, your papa and I planned that we will have our Shanghai trip on your birthday since it’s on a Saturday. But since your ama and angkong are coming over on the 22nd, we will just have a simple gathering on your birthday and hopefully the pictorial and will postpone the Shanghai trip to … Continue reading

Missing EJ

Dear Elisha, Today you are 5 years, 4 months and 13 days old to be exact. You went to school with your papa on a rainy day. Temperature outside is about 10 degrees but I let you wear the jacket that auntie Lily gave you (it’s very warm) because tonight, the temperature might drop to 3 degrees. You were coughing a bit and I guess your body’s reacting to the changing season – from Autumn to Winter. As usual, you have your juice with Super C in your bag. While I was preparing you for school, something was going on in my heart already… I realized you were just a kid and you needed so much love and care… but sometimes, I expect you to behave like an adult… So when you left, tears rolled down my cheeks and I want to write this down so you get to read … Continue reading

Meimei Can Read and Sign!

I am a believer of early literacy (teaching the kids at an early age)… My first born knew his letters and numbers when he was only 1 year old (thanks to Brainy Baby). Sadly I didn’t take videos of him reciting them because at that time, I thought it was normal for kids to know their alphabets and numbers at that age He was also able to say or call out the people at home including our staffs. At 14 months, I was able to find a video of EJ saying, “SHOOT THAT BALL”. When my husband and I went on our trip to laguna last June, I saw the “Your Baby Can Read” promotional video in one of the cable stations there. It really got my attention and I became interested in the concept and the product. However, it costs $200 so I told my husband we’ll think about … Continue reading

Date with Dad

I am a believer of DATES and if you’ve been reading my blogs or you’re close to me, you know that I date my kiddos and I also date my husband. But now I’ll blog about the date of the king and princess in our household. Since Meimei was 5 months in my tummy she was already separated from his dad. We stayed in Bacolod for over a year and Joey comes home almost every 2 months then to be with us. But last July the kids and I moved to China and be with their dad. Joey’s been “courting” Meimei. He did a wonderful job the past months building that relationship with Meimei, however, her attachment to me is so strong and she would usually cling to me more. When yaya Angel, our nanny went back to Bacolod, Joey was able to spend more time with Meimei like giving … Continue reading

Autumn Diarrhea

Last week my daughter had diarrhea and it lasted for several days. It started Sunday afternoon but got really worse at night until Tuesday morning so we went to the hospital to have her checked. When the doctor saw her watery stool advised me to have her admitted for IV to prevent her from getting dehydrated, even if the stool test showed there wasn’t any bacteria. Of course I declined and she made me sign a waiver that says I refused her wise counsel for hospitalization, to make sure they won’t be blamed if something happens to Meimei. She gave us oral medication instead. The doctor also mentioned that during this seasons, which is Autumn, it’s very common for children to have diarrhea and it might be dangerous if it won’t stop. “So what if it’s Autumn? What made diarrhea so common this season?”, I thought. When we got home I asked Mr. Google and here’s the answer: AUTUMN … Continue reading

Life Worth Remembering

Last October 24, 2008 I posted my very first article in my Life Worth Remembering blog. Here’s a copy of that post. The ones in blue fonts are new additions. “I will make my MARK in this generation. I will impact people around me. I will make a difference.” “You’re not everyone, but you are one You may not do everything, but you can do something” “You may be a stay at home mom, and you’re calling is to raise a child that may influence millions” “A 100 years from now, will it be any significant that I lived on this planet? Make it a goal to leave this earth better of than before you came in.” These are some of the thoughts that I picked up while listening to Joel Osteen’s preaching one Sunday regarding “Living a Life Worth Remembering.” The message struck me and it made me realize … Continue reading

18 Wonderful Months

Dear Meimei, In my Facebook profile my status was: “ Thank you Lord for 18 wonderful and blessed months…” Yes my little one, you’re 18 months old today and the past months have truly been wonderful and full of God’s blessings. They weren’t perfect months but in every difficulty or mishaps, God has always shown HIS favor and HE has never left us. Allow me to share with you what took place today: Our day started as the usual weekend – woke up late because we slept late the other night. Had crab and shrimp for lunch (for the three of us) and yours were broccoli and pork After lunch you asked for “Titi” (mama’s milk) and of course, fell asleep after that… Both of us did actually. Your papa and ahia however spent the whole afternoon cleaning the aquarium as your papa wanted to give you FISHY for your gift! … Continue reading

EJ’s Pre-School Life

Dear Elisha, The first time we went to China was when you were 23 months and by the time you reached 2 years old, you were already in school. Kid Castle was your very first school which taught English to local Chinese kids. I put you there so that you can adjust to a Chinese school environment and yet when you go looking for “Mama” in English, your teachers can attend to you because they understand you. You were only there for the summer and when September 2007 came, Chinese school year opened and you were enrolled in our village’s kindergarten, Jindu Kindergarted. In both schools, you cried very hard each time I left you with your teachers for the first few weeks. I cried too son. It was heart breaking for me to leave you in your teacher’s care, however, it was something that needed to be done. Sometimes I would watch you from … Continue reading

Night Schedule Revised

My previous blog about our life here in China entitled DAYS OF OUR WEEK,  I mentioned that we have different bedtime schedule and that defines who sleeps with who and in which room. After a month, we decided to have them changed due to factors like school is about to open and EJ has to sleep early, the bed is too small to fit the 4 of us (that’s because Joey gets half the space and the 3 of us share the other half!), and if super tired, my ears cannot tolerate Joey and EJ snoring at the same time! So we, EJ and I, did a draft one afternoon and had his papa approved it. So here’s the revised schedule: Monday and Tuesday – Meimei with Mama and Papa ; EJ in his room Wednesday – Papa’s night off (would you believe that! he has his OWN night off! … Continue reading

Birthday Project for Papa

Today is the birthday of my best friend and my children’s dad Hmmm… guess you know who I’m talking about! Right! It’s my luvyduvs birthday! A.K.A. Papa! I had a hard time deciding what to give him until an AHA moment came when EJ, my first born, got his clay out 2 days ago. Right there and then I asked him to do something for papa for his birthday. I didn’t have a concrete idea yet what the birthday project will be, all I know was we had to make something for daddy-yo! So this afternoon, while Meimei was sound asleep, EJ and I, with yaya’s help, made our birthday project for papa. We didn’t complete the project until Meimei got up and allowed us to have her hand traced – this was the most difficult part of the project I tell you! But it was very much worth the … Continue reading

Days of Our Week

It’s officially our one week and a few hours stay here in China so allow me to share with you how things were. As many of you know, yaya Angel is here with us so we divided the work loads. She took charge cleaning almost all the dusty areas because i’m extraordinarily allergic to dust. When she’s done cleaning, I do the arranging or re-arranging. I did all the cooking for lunch and dinner. From the grocery, preparations and cooking itself. Beakfast is simple – bread, cereal, milk or fruit. We take turns in taking care of the kids and washing the clothes. The ironing we leave to Ayi, our local helper who works only on Sundays. We maintain her just so we have someone to contact incase we need some stuff that are not available in the market and of course, my ever supportive hubby wants me to have … Continue reading

Honoring WilMar

I am writing this blog to thank my husband’s parents – Papa Wil and Mama Mary In my blog post WIVES SUBMIT TO YOUR HUSBAND I already mentioned of how grateful I was back in 2005 til 2007 when I stayed with my in-laws while my husband was away. Now, I will write specifically to honor Ma and Pa for the 2nd time around we (EJ, Meimei and myself) lived with them. January 2009 Joey and I once again decided to go back to the Philippines so I can give birth there and as initially planned, be back in China by August of the same year. However, my baby girl had Imperforate Anus and so our stay with my in-laws was extended until July 2010. I’ve always been close with Ma and Pa, oh, at least that’s what I want to believe Sure there had been times we disagreed in disciplines, principles and opinions. But … Continue reading

HAPPY 5TH BIRTHDAY ELISHA JOEY

Dear Elisha, For my birthday letter for you, I want to share with you how you came into this world… Ooops, not really the details of HOW you were made, but just a background of the things that took place before, during and after your birth. So read on ok? It was in the year 2002 when in my prayer time a little voice whispered to me that my first born will be a boy and that his name shall be ELISHA JOEY. Elisha is a prophet in the Old Testament and his name also signifies double portion anointing. Joey is obviously from your papa’s name. So in short, your name means double portion of your papa, but of course, with a touch of me When your pa and I got married in 2003, we decided to have a baby after we have taken some time to enjoy our being couple … Continue reading
