Days of Our Week
It’s officially our one week and a few hours stay here in China so allow me to share with you how things were. As many of you know, yaya Angel is here with us so we divided the work loads. She took charge cleaning almost all the dusty areas because i’m extraordinarily allergic to dust. When she’s done cleaning, I do the arranging or re-arranging. I did all the cooking for lunch and dinner. From the grocery, preparations and cooking itself. Beakfast is simple – bread, cereal, milk or fruit. We take turns in taking care of the kids and washing the clothes. The ironing we leave to Ayi, our local helper who works only on Sundays. We maintain her just so we have someone to contact incase we need some stuff that are not available in the market and of course, my ever supportive hubby wants me to have … Continue reading
Honoring WilMar
I am writing this blog to thank my husband’s parents – Papa Wil and Mama Mary In my blog post WIVES SUBMIT TO YOUR HUSBAND I already mentioned of how grateful I was back in 2005 til 2007 when I stayed with my in-laws while my husband was away. Now, I will write specifically to honor Ma and Pa for the 2nd time around we (EJ, Meimei and myself) lived with them. January 2009 Joey and I once again decided to go back to the Philippines so I can give birth there and as initially planned, be back in China by August of the same year. However, my baby girl had Imperforate Anus and so our stay with my in-laws was extended until July 2010. I’ve always been close with Ma and Pa, oh, at least that’s what I want to believe Sure there had been times we disagreed in disciplines, principles and opinions. But … Continue reading
HAPPY 5TH BIRTHDAY ELISHA JOEY
Dear Elisha, For my birthday letter for you, I want to share with you how you came into this world… Ooops, not really the details of HOW you were made, but just a background of the things that took place before, during and after your birth. So read on ok? It was in the year 2002 when in my prayer time a little voice whispered to me that my first born will be a boy and that his name shall be ELISHA JOEY. Elisha is a prophet in the Old Testament and his name also signifies double portion anointing. Joey is obviously from your papa’s name. So in short, your name means double portion of your papa, but of course, with a touch of me When your pa and I got married in 2003, we decided to have a baby after we have taken some time to enjoy our being couple … Continue reading

Wives, Submit to Your Husband as to the Lord
note: blog written October 29, 2008 in LIFE WORTH REMEMBERING. Blue fonts are latest additions. March 3, 2005, my husband and I had a little “lover’s quarrel”. The topic? Hmm… When I go back to Bacolod City, where will I stay? With my parents or with his parents? Big question. Hard to answer. Joey was hired to work in China and with that, we have decided we both needed to leave Laguna. Yes, he’s the one going to China but I too need to resign, because I was pregnant with our first baby. All our families are in Bacolod so for my safety and his peace of mind, somebody has to make sure I’ll be fine while he’s away. Now the hardest decision we needed to settle on was “WHO WILL TAKE CARE OF MARICAR? MARICAR’S PARENTS OR JOEY’S PARENTS?” Had I not been pregnant that time, I would have … Continue reading

1 Month to GO!
If you’re part of the family and close friends, you know that the kids and I have been in Bacolod since Chinese New Year last year. So that’s more than a year of “away” from my hubby and their papa Joey. Literally speaking, it’s 1 month to go… that is, 1 month to GO to China. The thought of leaving gives me mixed emotions – happy and sad at the same time. HAPPY TO GO – mainly because our family will be together day in and day out. My husband will definitely enjoy time with our kids, especially time with his little princess, as it is Meimei’s first time to join us there. Sure enough he’s also looking forward to coming home, sleep, and wake up with his lovely wife beside him (*wink*). The kids will take pleasure in the strong arms of their dad when he carries them. Oh … Continue reading
7 YEARS AND COUNTING…
The very first time I learned about blogging was in Friendster… However, when my family moved to China, friendster blog was banned so there was no way for me to update that blog. But here’s something I wrote last June 11, 2007 as my way of HONORING THE MAN I MARRIED 7 years ago… The ones in RED FONT are new additions I dedicate this blog to the man I want to grow old with…MY JOEY. It’s time the whole world knows how much he means to me… These words were my testimonial in his friendster account, but this time, I’ll give the details: MY langga… calling somebody “langga” in our local dialect means that you love that person, and YES, I LOVE JOEY. MY faithful best friend… faithful because for the past years we’ve been physically away from each other, he remained TRUE to me. I asked him the other … Continue reading

5W’s and 1H of MOTHERHOOD
Here are the 5 W’s and 1 H of MOTHERHOOD… Feel free to answer any of the questions and share your heart out! If you’re not a mom yet, you may add your own question – a mother might just give you the answer you’ve been needing to hear! Q1. When does a mother become a mother? At the time of conception or at the time you held your baby in your arms? Q2. What does it mean to be a mother? Does that mean sacrificing your old life or delighting in a new life? Q3. Why would someone want to be a mother? Q4. Where does motherhood end and friendship begins with children? Q5. Who should become a mother? 6. How does motherhood change a woman? For the better or the worse? I’d like to personally answer Q2. What does it mean to be a mother? Does that mean … Continue reading

GO NEGOSYO – I won!!! I won!!!
Firstly, I would like to thank my batchmate and fellow blogger May, who works for the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), for inviting me to join the GO NEGOSYO SEMINAR held at the L’ Fisher Hotel today. It was a wonderful learning experience hearing from Cito Beltran and the whole Angelpreneur share different topics such as Mindset, Branding, Value, Marketing, Financing and what they call the Social Enterprise (where the ColorKiddos belong). Inspiring real life stories and practical advice were shared. I believe everyone who listened well were encouraged to do what they love, quit what they hate doing and embrace the entrepreneur inside them. The speakers were also very friendly and accommodating. They shared their ideas clearly and answered our questions intelligently. The place and food were nice too. And not only that, the seminar was FREE and they even gave out this book for FREE!!! Thank you … Continue reading

BLUE and HAPPY day :)
It was a one truly fine day spent with both the Lo’s and the Boyero’s… It was Meimei’s birthday last April 16 but we had it celebrated at Palmas Del Mar today mainly because for my 2 kids (EJ and Meimei), swimming seem to be the love of their lives! Whenever they see a swimming pool, the first thing that comes to their minds is, DIVE DIVE DIVE and DIVE! Even if it’s just in the pictures or videos. I decided to have a family pool party so everyone can just enjoy and exercise Not everybody swam but I appreciate the fact that those who didn’t stayed until those who did finished up… I thought that after the picture taking in the function room and at the pool area, those who didn’t swim would go back home. But I was surprised to see the dry group waiting for the wet … Continue reading

HAPPY BIRTHDAY My ColorKiddo…
Dear Meimei, A year ago, April 16, 2009 at 4:44pm I heard your very first cry… I welcomed you to this world by saying these words the very first time I saw you: KAY JOEY GYAPUN ILONG!!! (Still Joey’s Nose!!!) :) When you’re old enough to read this, just ask me or your papa WHY those where my first words when I saw you for the very first time! (ahihihihi) A few hours later your tita Doc Tett went inside my room and told me that you were healthy except for a small problem… that you had imperforate anus. A lot of my friends asked me what was my first reaction and probably you’ll also wonder when you grow up… I didn’t cry nor did I panic. All I asked was, “So what’s the solution?” Tita Doc then discussed words like you may need colostomy and many other things which … Continue reading

BABY JE-AN IN MANILA
First of all, I would like to thank family, friends and even strangers for sending help for Baby Jeff Andrei Las Pinas (Je-An). May the Lord bless your kindness to this kiddo. They went to the Philippine Heart Center last Monday and the poor boy had to undergo several testings such as blood tests, urine, 2d echo and many others to find out if he can go through the temporary repair. Unfortunately, the doctors concluded based on the test results that right now, he cannot because of the following reasons: 1. he is way below under weight so he has to gain a little more… they are asking that he should at least be able to take 3oz of milk each time, however, the most he can take was 2oz. They tried giving increasing it but when they reached 2.5 oz, he was rushed to the emergency room because he … Continue reading

Quality Time is better than Quantity Time???
Several nights back, my husband and I had one of the many wonderful chats about life… Even if he’s far (he’s in China while I’m in the Philippines), he is still someone I consider my best friend. I can share with him everything and anything at all. A lot of times I know he’s tired and exhausted but when we chat and I need someone to share my heart out, he tries his best to comfort me. The latest incident was a few nights ago when I felt so guilty of being so busy with something that is good, yet I felt it’s taking me away from the kids so in turn, it’s starting to become bad. I discussed this topic with my husband and here’s what he told me: ok. i know that it’s hard for you there. just make sure may outlet ka. [4/6/2010 12:38:38 AM] *LANGGA KO*: … Continue reading
PLEASE Pray for Baby Je-An
This afternoon, my friend Ruby and I with my kids went to baby Je-An’s house to say goodbye and bless him before he leaves for Manila tomorrow night. Je-An and his mom, lolo and lola will travel to Manila by boat because his pedia cardiologist (Dr. Franco) won’t give him clearance to ride the airplane as it is too dangerous for his condition. They will leave Bacolod around 9pm tomorrow night and will be arriving Manila about 10pm Sunday night. Analyn, Je-An’s mom, has an uncle who drives a taxi will pick them up and bring them somewhere (they still don’t know where they can spend the night). Monday morning they’re hoping to be admitted in the Philippine Heart Center. Initial estimates of Je-An’s expenses will reach at least P200,000 ( approx. $ 4,200) which covers for Pulmonary Artery Catether and Pulmonary Artery Banding. The family will leave Bacolod with … Continue reading

AWARD WINNING KID
Dear Elisha, I am writing this letter with tears in my eyes because as I look at you while you’re sound asleep, I realize that you are still a “baby”, but sometimes, I forget that and expect you to act like an adult. You’re only 4 years old and 8 months to be exact and even if at times you DO talk like a grown up, you’re still just a little boy who wants to run and play… Today you received several awards namely: GOLD in Chinese with Best in Math, Best in Language, Best in Social Studies and Best in Bible. SILVER in English with Best in English award. In the past, it was your A-ma who gave you your Chinese ribbons and I gave your English ribbons. But today it was I and Angkong who were there… As I looked at you on stage, I saw not really much of the … Continue reading

Update on Baby Je-An
Jeff Andrei Las Pinas, the child that I blogged about several months back, is now 9 months old. Baby Je-An has congenital heart and disease and imperforate anus. When he was born, his doctor adviced his parents to make sure that he can have his heart surgery before he reaches 1 year old. Due to lack of finances, he wasn’t able to have the heart surgery the past months. However, he has been having frequent attacks of congestion and as his grandmother told me, sometimes his breathing stops. Last night Je-An’s mom didn’t sleep well because from time to time she’d wake up to see how her son’s breathing pattern was. They were told that JeAn can’t wait any longer. The operation has to take place as soon as possible which means next week. Today, his grandmother Olive, my friend Cindy and myself went to a foundation to plan for the baby’s surgery. … Continue reading
3 / 3 It Is Finished!
Dear Meimei, Last February 15, 2010 at 7:30am at the Riverside Medical Center you went through with your 3rd and final operation – Colostomy Closure. Just like you PSARP, I am blogging about it to give you and our loved ones a glimpse of what took place at the hospital. So read on sweety… February 12 at 6pm we were already in the hospital and it was a painless day because we were just there to make sure we have the room reserved. You were so amazed at this ”new place” and with no idea what will happen in the days ahead… Today you started with your liquid only diet in preparation for your OR. February 13 – 14 Doc Mic did your irrigation as part of the pre-op preparations. You also had theblood tests, skin test and IV insertions on the 14th… Each time you cried but the moment I hugged … Continue reading

DATING MY KING
Dear Meimei, I know this is too early for me to write about this issue but this is something that I want to pass on to you and let you understand as early as now… Hoping that someday, when you’re grown up and finally decide to have a family, this is one principle you will apply from the day you exchange vows ’til the day heaven calls you or your partner home. We are an OFW family (Overseas Filipino Workers) and with that, we live a different life compared to families who live together. Your Pa and I spend a lot of times apart from each other so it takes extra effort to keep our love for each other alive and keep communication lines open. Most nights, like right now, when you and your ahia are asleep, I make time to chat with your papa. It’s not really like we chat the whole time, sometimes I just send … Continue reading
A 4 Year Old’s Prayer
Dear Elisha, I’ve been meaning to write you about your prayer times because there had been a lot of instances that you amazed me with your prayers, the ones that you say on your own… Here’s one that’s very fresh that you uttered before you slept this evening (Dec. 2, 2009): Dear God our Father, Thank you for blessing our friends and family. Thank you for our ROCKING CHAIR. Thank you that tomorrow I can go to school and make my… (you paused and asked me – Mama, what will we make tomorrow in my science class, I forgot – so I had to remind you that you’ll make a clay dough) … my clay dough. Thank you for blessing others. In Jesus name, Amen. I won’t and can’t enumerate everything but just to give you an idea of what you prayed for as a 4 year old boy, read on :) … for Jose Rizal … Continue reading
