At the Eastern Medicine Hospital

Oh yes… Nobody likes gout and when the kids and I pray, we ask gout to go away and never come back!!! Joey’s left foot got attacked by Mr. Gout when we were about to end our Chinese New Year in the Philippines. It was probably caused by too much eating of all sorts of food (including the forbidden ones such as monggo) and too much walking. After 2 weeks of agony he finally decided to rest his aching foot and see a doctor. Yipeee!!! So there he is in an eastern hospital, which mainly usese Chinese medicines and the world known accupuncture. However, accupuncture can only be done after the swelling goes away so he was first given some medicines to take for a few days. Tomorrow we will go back to the hospital again to see if he can go through with the accupuncture.

Busy Hands Way Back Then…

me and my siblings - we're really BUSY here! ;-D

The BUSY HANDS album in my Facebook account features activities of “busy-ness” of Meimei and EJ.  But here I would like to write how the concept of BUSY HANDS started and when it started. I grew up with 4 brothers and 1 sister, so yeah, we are a large family  In most of our growing years we’ve had helpers doing the house works but our parents, especially our dad, always wanted us to work with them.  He didn’t want us to be spoiled brats who just litter our stuff around the house and let the house maids clean them.  We were tasked to fix our rooms, wipe the windows, feed the dogs (and even clean their poopie!), wash our clothes and all the other house chores especially when the helpers took their day off on a Sunday.  That way, even without helpers, life was normal and we didn’t have to … Continue reading

BUSY HANDS

Busy Hands

I have this album in Facebook that I entitled BUSY HANDS and currently I’m on my 3rd album,  containing about 60 photos in each.  I don’t want the viewers to wait for a long time while the pictures are loading that’s why I create a new one when I see 60 photos. I entitled the album BUSY HANDS mainly because I want to TRAIN my children in different areas of their lives – spiritually, financially, emotionally, mentally, psychologically, physically, artistically (oh how I love arts!) and all the other -ally’s that are there… where does COOKING come in? Physically I guess, haha.  But as a mother, I believe it is my GOD-given responsibility to raise persons who are responsible, making a difference wherever they are, who will be a blessings to people around them and honor the name of their Maker.  And your guess is right, we start training them … Continue reading

Samsung 10.1 Over Ipad 2

I spent several nights and days checking on which is better, iPad 2 or Samsung 10.1. My cousin in law (Ivy) patiently went with me the other day so we can have our hands on these 2 gadgets. Finally yesterday, with my husband‘s approval, I got the Samsung 10.1 white. Unfortunately, the today I returned it to Samsung and they were so nice to give me back my money, full refund.  The unit was wonderful, it felt really good to play & work with.  However, Android Market, which is the apps center for android products, will only work properly with the Chinese version and not the English version… sigh. After 4 hours of trying to figure out how to configure my unit to work properly with the English apps version, the manager informed me that there’s nothing they can do as of the moment and advised me to buy my … Continue reading

Long Time No Blog

I miss blogging… Although I have alot in my drafts, my last published entry was last July.  After we came back from our family vacation in the Philippines, I was hoping to spend more time updating my blog because a cousin is here to help me take care of the kids.  However, uploading pictures became super duper difficult.  I’ve always had this problem considering we’re in China, but now it’s almost impossible to upload pictures in my blog post.  That really made me sad and that’s why I’ve been really quiet.  Not only in the blogosphere but also in Facebook.  Waiting for the proxy to load takes so much time and almost always, I’ve waited in vain. Friends have sent me emails, ym’s and posted in my wall that I’ve been really quiet, haha… So I thought I’ll just write it here hoping they can think of visiting and read this post. Thanks to friends and … Continue reading

Cloth Diapers

orange cloth diaper

Since EJ was born, I’ve used cloth diapers from time to time to make sure his bum won’t have rashes.  And it’s also a good thing to use for potty training to make the child aware that he is wet and that it feels uncomfortable. Now for Meimei we’re here in China and I’ve found something better than the cloth diapers I had back then with EJ.  It has inserts which feels like a towel but tailored cut to fit the diaper perfectly.  It has buttons so it can fit from small to large kids.  It comes in different colors too!  I use it when she’s sleeping in the afternoon and I’m really glad that twice last month she peed on it while sleeping and it didn’t leak.  The moment she peed on it she woke up telling me, “Mama, I’m wet. I peed on my pants!”  Usually I let … Continue reading

I Thank…

lovingly-mama-new-header-copy

I consider this as the relaunching of my blog SheWritesYouWrite, haha.  As to why, probably I’ll write about it next time.  But for now, allow me to thank my sister in law for my header! Yippeee! Doesn’t it look very pretty and feminine?  You can visit poshpost and request her to do your header, badge or any digital designs.  She does an excellent layout! Also, her birthday’s coming up so as another thank you, I’d like to showcase her blog about her loving motherhood moments with my niece Budin (actually her names Dindin but I just love calling her Budin). If you frequently visit her blog, I’m actually the “dichim”, hihi.  Since we’re married to handsome Chinese men (wink), we carry on Chinese titles before our names. Posh is “A-em” in my blogs actually. Posh, I THANK you for organizing my wedding, haha, that was 8 years ago pa! So that means … Continue reading

Missing EJ

Dear Elisha, Today you are 5 years, 4 months and 13 days old to be exact. You went to school with your papa on a rainy day. Temperature outside is about 10 degrees but I let you wear the jacket that auntie Lily gave you (it’s very warm) because tonight, the temperature might drop to 3 degrees. You were coughing a bit and I guess your body’s reacting to the changing season – from Autumn to Winter. As usual, you have your juice with Super C in your bag. While I was preparing you for school, something was going on in my heart already… I realized you were just a kid and you needed so much love and care… but sometimes, I expect you to behave like an adult… So when you left, tears rolled down my cheeks and I want to write this down so you get to read … Continue reading

Meimei Can Read and Sign!

I am a believer of early literacy (teaching the kids at an early age)… My first born knew his letters and numbers when he was only 1 year old (thanks to Brainy Baby). Sadly I didn’t take videos of him reciting them because at that time, I thought it was normal for kids to know their alphabets and numbers at that age He was also able to say or call out the people at home including our staffs. At 14 months, I was able to find a video of EJ saying, “SHOOT THAT BALL”. When my husband and I went on our trip to laguna last June, I saw the “Your Baby Can Read” promotional video in one of the cable stations there. It really got my attention and I became interested in the concept and the product. However, it costs $200 so I told my husband we’ll think about … Continue reading

Date with Dad

I am a believer of DATES and if you’ve been reading my blogs or you’re close to me, you know that I date my kiddos and I also date my husband. But now I’ll blog about the date of the king and princess in our household. Since Meimei was 5 months in my tummy she was already separated from his dad. We stayed in Bacolod for over a year and Joey comes home almost every 2 months then to be with us. But last July the kids and I moved to China and be with their dad. Joey’s been “courting” Meimei. He did a wonderful job the past months building that relationship with Meimei, however, her attachment to me is so strong and she would usually cling to me more. When yaya Angel, our nanny went back to Bacolod, Joey was able to spend more time with Meimei like giving … Continue reading

Autumn Diarrhea

Last week my daughter had diarrhea and it lasted for several days. It started Sunday afternoon but got really worse at night until Tuesday morning so we went to the hospital to have her checked. When the doctor saw her watery stool advised me to have her admitted for IV to prevent her from getting dehydrated, even if the stool test showed there wasn’t any bacteria. Of course I declined and she made me sign a waiver that says I refused her wise counsel for hospitalization, to make sure they won’t be blamed if something happens to Meimei. She gave us oral medication instead. The doctor also mentioned that during this seasons, which is Autumn, it’s very common for children to have diarrhea and it might be dangerous if it won’t stop. “So what if it’s Autumn? What made diarrhea so common this season?”, I thought. When we got home I asked Mr. Google and here’s the answer: AUTUMN … Continue reading

Life Worth Remembering

Last October 24, 2008 I posted my very first article in my Life Worth Remembering blog. Here’s a copy of that post. The ones in blue fonts are new additions. “I will make my MARK in this generation. I will impact people around me. I will make a difference.” “You’re not everyone, but you are one You may not do everything, but you can do something” “You may be a stay at home mom, and you’re calling is to raise a child that may influence millions” “A 100 years from now, will it be any significant that I lived on this planet? Make it a goal to leave this earth better of than before you came in.” These are some of the thoughts that I picked up while listening to Joel Osteen’s preaching one Sunday regarding “Living a Life Worth Remembering.” The message struck me and it made me realize … Continue reading

18 Wonderful Months

Dear Meimei, In my Facebook profile my status was: “ Thank you Lord for 18 wonderful and blessed months…” Yes my little one, you’re 18 months old today and the past months have truly been wonderful and full of God’s blessings. They weren’t perfect months but in every difficulty or mishaps, God has always shown HIS favor and HE has never left us. Allow me to share with you what took place today: Our day started as the usual weekend – woke up late because we slept late the other night. Had crab and shrimp for lunch (for the three of us) and yours were broccoli and pork After lunch you asked for “Titi” (mama’s milk) and of course, fell asleep after that… Both of us did actually. Your papa and ahia however spent the whole afternoon cleaning the aquarium as your papa wanted to give you FISHY for your gift! … Continue reading

EJ’s Pre-School Life

Dear Elisha, The first time we went to China was when you were 23 months and by the time you reached 2 years old, you were already in school. Kid Castle was your very first school which taught English to local Chinese kids. I put you there so that you can adjust to a Chinese school environment and yet when you go looking for “Mama” in English, your teachers can attend to you because they understand you. You were only there for the summer and when September 2007 came, Chinese school year opened and you were enrolled in our village’s kindergarten, Jindu Kindergarted. In both schools, you cried very hard each time I left you with your teachers for the first few weeks. I cried too son. It was heart breaking for me to leave you in your teacher’s care, however, it was something that needed to be done. Sometimes I would watch you from … Continue reading

Night Schedule Revised

My previous blog about our life here in China entitled DAYS OF OUR WEEK,  I mentioned that we have different bedtime schedule and that defines who sleeps with who and in which room. After a month, we decided to have them changed due to factors like school is about to open and EJ has to sleep early, the bed is too small to fit the 4 of us (that’s because Joey gets half the space and the 3 of us share the other half!), and if super tired, my ears cannot tolerate Joey and EJ snoring at the same time! So we, EJ and I, did a draft one afternoon and had his papa approved it. So here’s the revised schedule: Monday and Tuesday – Meimei with Mama and Papa ; EJ in his room Wednesday – Papa’s night off (would you believe that! he has his OWN night off! … Continue reading

Birthday Project for Papa

Today is the birthday of my best friend and my children’s dad Hmmm… guess you know who I’m talking about! Right! It’s my luvyduvs birthday! A.K.A. Papa! I had a hard time deciding what to give him until an AHA moment came when EJ, my first born, got his clay out 2 days ago. Right there and then I asked him to do something for papa for his birthday. I didn’t have a concrete idea yet what the birthday project will be, all I know was we had to make something for daddy-yo! So this afternoon, while Meimei was sound asleep, EJ and I, with yaya’s help, made our birthday project for papa. We didn’t complete the project until Meimei got up and allowed us to have her hand traced – this was the most difficult part of the project I tell you! But it was very much worth the … Continue reading
